Name: Cheng

Nickname: Thief, Scoundrel, Scum of the World

Race: Human

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Height: 5” 6

Weight: 145 lbs

Job:
-Prowler for the Pursuit (Thieves' Guild)
-Assassin for the Black Talon (Assassins' Guild)

Feats:
--Known for stealing from rich, guarded areas, such as the mansions of dukes and rich merchants in Sentinel
--Assassinated a master wizard in the Shimmermist Islands
--Learned an invisibility spell, but can only use it for 15 seconds
--Traveled around the whole continent.

Affiliations:
--Pursuit
--Black Talon

Personality:
--People know him as cruel and heartless because of his affiliations, but almost nothing is known about him from the common person. Those who know him note his notoriety of usually working alone, but occasionally proving equally as potent in groups. Hating to be overshadowed, he desires to prove that he is the stealthiest theif/assassin and would resort to killing rivals if he desired. Although he is believed to have been born in poverty, some testaments claim that he was born as the only heir of a considerable fortune and that he only commits crime for his own entertainment. Either way, Cheng's wake of murder and theft is to be feared and respected.

Weapon Style:
--Two gold-hilt tasseled daggers, Khagan and Yuan
--Because of his speed and stealth, he prefers to close distances between enemies and finish them in a few blows.
--A team of 7 or more soldiers could defeat him, if they can catch him first.

Special Abilities:
--Since stealing is his life, he can identify the value of objects in a few moments
--Acquired an invisibility spell, but is rather inexperienced with it.

Backstory (Three excerpts from life):

1) The Beginning of a Thief
"So kid, what's your reason for coming to Sentinel?" The captain of the ship patted the boy's shoulder.
"Just wanted to see what it looked like--I always wanted to come here." Cheng, age 14, answered.
He looked out at the drifting waves, knowing that there was the merchant was there, in the Wealth District of Bandar. The ship landed at nightfall, and its passengers unloaded their various cargo of spices, weapons, clothes, and many other trading items. Cheng left with nothing but a ragged cloak and tattered silk clothes. He walked within the crowd, practically invisible, but at the same time, conspicuous. He continued to cover himself within the bodies of the moving people until he reached the Wealth District. The nobles enjoying the night air sneered at him, knowing that he is of poverty. Cheng ignored these snickers and stares, and continued to the mansion of his target. Guards were swarming over the mansion, keeping vigil for intruders and troublemakers.
Impressed with Sentinel's reputation of the finest lookouts, Cheng pondered about entering the mansion. Then he located a spice barrel. Near the storage corridor was a caravan of spice merchants, smoking after a long trek from the sea. Before the carriers could spot him, he found an empty barrel in the wagon and busted it open, before proceeding to enter it and wait. When the guards decided it was time to put the spice barrels inside, they heaved the barrels and after a brief walk, placed them inside the storage, just as Cheng planned. When he heard no noise, Cheng popped the lid off his barrel disguise and sneaked upstairs. What he saw was a hall of marble and velvet, patrolled by legions of guards with partisans. The boy had no idea how to traverse this area, unless... Cheng sneaked within the shadows of the hall to avoid the guards and followed the lights. Whenever there was a couple of guards, he threw a stone to distract them and entered the door they were guarding. After 4 hours of planning, sneaking, and holding his breath, Cheng finally entered the bedroom of the merchant. Just in case something would go wrong, Cheng took measures to make sure the door was barred so that guards could not easily come in. After that, he crept to the sleeping man, slowly...slowly...slowly...raising half a scissor blade to slit his throat. The blade reached the neck, but the man woke up. Cheng, in panic, stabbed the man in the chest, again, again, again, and again. The bedsheets were stained bloody red and the merchant's screams echoed across the room, the mansion, and almost all around the district. From his yells, the guards started barking orders and an alarm was sounded. From the alarm, Cheng got startled and broke his blade into the man's chest. Still alive, the merchant was gasping for air and his eyes bulged out, almost popping out of his skull. Cheng finished him off with the slit to the throat with the jagged hilt of his knife. Then there was banging on the door. Almost panicking, Cheng bolted for the window, breaking through and falling almost 3 floors into a bush. Dazed and hurt, he crawled out, limping away from the mansion and the sight of the many nobles screaming for help. He cast off his cloak and mingled into the crowd of commoners, invisible again.

2) The Heist
"Alright, we need you to go to this house here in Lyrcin. The priest there refused to pay his loan from us. Teach him a lesson by stripping bare his home of everything valuable. Since we know that you can't carry everything, we have another pair of thieves you are working with." Cheng's supervisor smiled.
"And huge things like paintings and the sort?" Cheng questioned without any tone in his voice.
"We bribed some of the guards to make a clear way for you to get through. All you have to do is to find our agent nearby and sell him the goods to the black market."
"Got it. And what's my pay?" Cheng asked the most important question.
1000G. And the money you get from the heist.
"That sounds absolutely generous."

Cheng peeked over the stone wall at the manor that was the priest's house.
"So much for pledging a life in poverty." Cheng rolled his eyes at the opulence the house radiated.
"Yeah, that makes it even more satisfying to clean it out." A voice said behind him.
"What?" Cheng turned around and saw the two thieves waiting for him. "Goddamn, don't startle me like that."
"Sorry. Ready?" The other one said.
"Yeah."

"And that is the last one." Cheng dusted his hands off and looked at the inside of the house, all empty and devoid of vases, paintings, jewelry, weapons, religious icons, and many other items of value. "Let's go."
The two thieves rolled the bag of stolen goods out the door, following Cheng. "There it is, the bar that our black market dealer is."
Cheng turned around and drew his knives. "Leave the stuff here and leave."
"What?" The two asked.
"Are you deaf? Leave. Now." He took a step closer.
"Are you stupid? We'll report you to our guildmaster and you will be exiled and left as a beggar." They both were livid by Cheng's audacity.
"I am also a member of the Black Talon, and you all have a nice bounty on each of your heads. And our leader is good friends with the head of Black Talon, and he wouldn't mind a few scoundrels who botched one two many jobs on the street dead. Now, if you want to live a bit longer, give me the bag and I'll let someone else take the bounty on your heads." Cheng came closer, his eyes flashing blood-red.
Both thieves shivered in fear and ran off, screaming.
"That's what I thought."
